Galvanic Isolator Installation

Following Olivier's recommendation regarding vessels spending a lots of time in marina, I decided to install a Galvanic Isolator.

Bill Rouse (SM2K#387 s/v BeBe) recommended the Galvanic Isolators 32 Amp part number 8-40991 from Aquafax.

Note: even though we connect to 50 Amp shore power plug, the breaker on the side of the 220 volt panel is rated at 32 amp and the original shore power cable is only 16 Amp. So no need to look for a 50 amp Galvanic Isolator, the 32 Amp is adequate.

I contacted Bryan at Aquafax in the UK and he directed me to a reseller:

The price of the Galvanic Isolators 32 Amp part number 8-40991 was GBP 140.00, plus freight (Air Mail, DHL etc). They only had in stock the 16 Amp, so it took a week to be available.

To make it download friendly, I divided the document in 4 sections:

Part 1
Tracing the wire from the shore to the engine room

Part 2
Exploring further which helped me decide on the location of the Galvanic Isolator

Part 3
Deciding on the location, testing the Galvanic Isolator and adding spacers

Part 4
Installing the Galvanic Isolator and measure reading

For those not concerned with slow bandwidth
