Amel Super Maramu 2000

Dinghy location

The boat came with a Caribe 9.5 AL (Aluminum) dinghy.

Like most Amel owner, when sailing locally with small seas, I hang it on the Davits.

When doing passages and/or expecting higher than 3ft/1m seas, I store the dinghy on top of the Aft Cabin.

Like many Amel Owner do, I put it upside down with the bow against the mizzen shroud.

The downside was a limited access to the stern, especially being single handed and working with the dock lines.

I am currently trying a different solution, I don't think anyone mentioned on the forum.

I am certainly not saying saying this is the way it should be done, but like every solution it has its advantages and draw backs

Can pick either the port or starboard side, I pick the port to that I could see from the helm how far I am from the dock

The down side is the limited move of the mizzen car.
Note that you can still move it to the end of the rail but you will have to remove the chakle and put it back

The second down side is that the over of the Lazarette will barely hold by itself
So to avoid accidental drop, I secure it with a line when accessing it
